I had the opportunity to work on Young Souls during my internship at 1p2p in summer 2018. 

Young Soul is an RPG/Beet-them-all with a game system similar to versus fighting games.

 

You play Jenn and Tristan, two twins, who discover a portal that allows them to travel to the Underground World of the Goblins. Whether alone or in pairs, venture into the dungeons of the Other World to protect yours.

Working on a professional project with experimented Game Designers was an amazing experience, I learned more on this project than in most of my games. 

 

Write concept documents, in-editor balancing, work on a project which wasn't my initiative, etc. was really constructive and helped me to understand Game Design as a profession

The Player can choose different weapons to fight. I had to create each of those movesets and balance them. One of the biggest challenges was the defensive move: how the player can defend himself if he decides to get a 2 arms sword instead of a Shield?

​

Moreover, we had to work on the advantages and the drawbacks of each weapons' movekits (5 different movekits)

Young Souls is also an RPG. The overall progression, the formulas to get XP, items, and gold were one of my main tasks. We had to use RGD to correctly anticipate the progression of a Player during the whole adventure.

The team's workflow allowed us to easily balance attacks, and even create new moves and combo.

I also worked on Artificial intelligence. I tried to make each enemy memorable. Moreover, they are created to correspond to a special counterplay.
